| 正面描述 | The obverse features a bold geometric latticework background composed of intersecting diagonal lines forming a stylized octagonal frame within the round field. Centered within this pattern are two naturalistic botanical sprigs — an olive branch above and an oak branch below — rendered in high relief, symbolizing peace and strength respectively. The denomination and issuer name are inscribed in large characters across the center of the field, reading 'EURO 20' horizontally, with the legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE' arching above and 'FRANÇAISE' continuing below, all executed in the Latin script. The overall design conveys a modern, architectural aesthetic characteristic of contemporary Monnaie de Paris commemorative issues. The engraver's signature J. JIMENEZ is associated with the design. |

France adopted the euro on January 1, 2002, when euro banknotes and coins entered circulation simultaneously across twelve member states in what remains the largest currency changeover in history — an estimated 7.4 billion coins introduced in a matter of days. The franc, which had survived in some form since the Carolingian monetary reforms of the 8th century, ceased to be legal tender just two months later.
This commemorative marks twenty years from that transition, issued by the Monnaie de Paris under its standard collector program. The .900 silver alloy is the same fineness used for French commemorative silver throughout the modern series.
