| 背面描述 | The reverse presents a frontal architectural view of the Porte Palatine, a well-preserved ancient Roman city gate of Turin, rendered in fine relief. To the left, the Olympic torchbearer logo appears as a secondary decorative element. The denomination 20 EURO is inscribed in the lower field, accompanied by the date 2005 and the engraver's name U. PERNAZZA. The legend XX GIOCHI OLIMPICI INVERNALI arcs along the upper border, identifying the commemorative theme. The overall composition balances classical architectural imagery with the modern symbolism of the Winter Games. |

The Porte Palatine — twin Roman towers surviving in central Turin — gave the 2006 Winter Games an unusually deep civic backdrop. Turin had lobbied hard for the 1997 Games before losing to Nagano, and the eventual 2006 award carried considerable national prestige for a city better known for Fiat and the Shroud than for winter sport. This coin is one of several in the Italian commemorative series timed to the Turin Olympics, each highlighting a different regional landmark.
