| Reverse description | Central field displays a bold Jerusalem cross composed of four equal arms, each arm terminating in a crosslet, rendered in high relief within a beaded inner circle surrounded by an ornamental rope-like border. The cross design closely replicates the reverse type of the original 17th-century 100 escudos Centén coinage struck under Philip III. The legend HISPANIARVM · REX · 1609 · encircles the central device, identifying the king as ruler of the Spains and citing the original year of issue. The composition is restrained and heraldic in character, faithfully reproducing the aesthetic of early Spanish colonial-era gold coinage. |
