| Reverse description | The reverse centers on a depiction of the Sedes Sapientiae — the enthroned Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child on her lap — derived from the celebrated statue associated with the University of Leuven. The inner field is divided into two zones: the lower portion is filled with scientifically inspired linear motifs symbolizing academic knowledge, while the upper arc bears the inscription SEDES SAPIENTIAE ORA PRO NOBIS (Seat of Wisdom, pray for us). Beneath the central figure appear the dual institutional names UCLOUVAIN and KU LEUVEN flanking the foundation and jubilee years 1425 and 2025. A circular border legend repeatedly lists the names of associated university institutes, punctuated by small ornamental pellets, and the numeral 600 appears prominently at the base to mark the sexcentenary of the institution. The design is the work of Iris Bruijns. |
