The legend 'LËTZEBUERG' arcs along the upper rim, identifying the issuing nation in the Luxembourgish language. The date of issue and the mint mark appear in the lower field beneath the portrait. Twelve five-pointed stars, symbolising the European Union, encircle the design along the outer rim. The engraving is the work of Yvette Gastauer-Claire.
