| Obverse description | The obverse features a frontal view of the Brandenburg Gate, the neoclassical triumphal arch surmounted by the Quadriga, rendered in fine relief at the centre of the coin. The design is engraved by Reinhart Heinsdorff and serves as the German national motif for the 20 euro cent denomination. The date of issue appears in the lower field, flanked by two small decorative lines, with the mint mark positioned just below. Twelve five-pointed stars, representing the member states of the European Union, encircle the central motif in the outer ring. |
