Additional information

Germany's early euro cent issues used the so-called "first map" reverse — a design showing a fragmented Europe that excluded non-eurozone EU members. The design drew sufficient criticism from countries like the UK and Sweden, who objected to appearing geographically severed, that the entire eurozone revised the reverse in 2007 to show a more complete continental outline. Germany's transition to the updated design ended production of this type that same year.
