| 背面描述 | The reverse displays the common European design for the 20 euro cent denomination, featuring a stylised map of the European Union to the left of the face value numeral. Twelve vertical stars flank the map, symbolising the unity of the EU member states. The map is rendered in a simplified, non-geographical style with visible spaces between national borders. The denomination '20' appears prominently in large numerals, with the text 'EURO CENT' completing the face value legend. The engraver's initials 'LL' (Luc Luycx) are incused within the design. |

Italy's euro coins issued between 2002 and 2007 carry what collectors call the "first map" reverse — a design showing the EU member states before the 2004 enlargement, which brought in ten new countries primarily from Central and Eastern Europe. When that wave of accession took effect, the design became politically obsolete almost overnight, and the Eurogroup coordinated a phased transition to the updated map type across all member states. Italy completed its switch by 2008.
