Obverse description	Brown on multicolour underprint, the face carries a portrait vignette of Dom Afonso V at right, the Portuguese Coat of Arms at upper centre, and the Banco Nacional Ultramarino seal at left. A red letterpress overprint on both sides applies the new issuing authority name, Banco Nacional de São Tomé e Príncipe, together with the date 1 de Junho de 1976, superseding the original Banco Nacional Ultramarino Decreto No. 39.221 note of 20 November 1958.

Reverse description	Brown intaglio print; the central vignette shows a female allegorical figure with a view of steamships at centre, with the Portuguese Coat of Arms at right. The new bank name, date and authorising signature appear in red letterpress overprint.
