Aanvullende informatie

The 1953 pattern 20 Escudos was struck during Salazar's Estado Novo regime as Portugal explored monetary reform options — the Financial Renewal series referenced the regime's signature economic policy achievement, the 1928–1929 fiscal restructuring that had rescued the Portuguese state from near-insolvency and remained, twenty-five years later, the ideological centerpiece of Salazar's legitimacy. Patterns of this type were produced in extremely limited numbers for official evaluation and were never released for circulation.

The Gomes reference R E11.04 places this among a small group of competing designs considered before the final 20 Escudos type was settled.
