| Obverse description | Armored half-length effigy of György Rákóczi I facing three-quarters to the right, wearing an elaborately decorated cuirass and a plumed Hungarian fur-trimmed crown. The prince holds a sceptre in his right hand, its ornate finial visible at left. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail on the armor. A Latin legend encircles the central portrait within a beaded inner border, itself enclosed by an outer dentilated rim following the hexagonal flan. |

| Reverse description | Central rectangular cartouche, framed by elaborate scrollwork and floral ornaments, containing a six-line Latin religious inscription in capital letters. The surrounding circular legend, separated from the central cartouche by a beaded border, reads ANNO DO 1637 SOLI DEO GLORIA. The date 1637 appears prominently at the top of the inner legend. The overall composition reflects the Calvinist piety of the Rákóczi court, the biblical text being a paraphrase of Romans 9:16 attributing all achievement to divine mercy alone. |
