The shield displays the characteristic Basel crosier (Baselstab) device within a baroque cartouche. The circular Latin legend reads * DOMINE · CONSERVA · NOS · IN · PAC[E], meaning 'Lord, preserve us in peace,' arranged around the periphery of the field. The engraving is of exceptional quality, exhibiting the refined baroque craftsmanship characteristic of Swiss city coinage of the period. |
