| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of King George I facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair and short beard characteristic of the monarch's mature portrait. The circular Greek legend arcs around the periphery, reading ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ. In the lower exergual area, the Paris mint mark 'A', the date 1884, and the engraver's signature ΒΑΡΡΕ appear in small incuse lettering. The portrait is framed by a beaded inner border. |

| Reverse description | The royal arms of Greece displayed at centre: a shield bearing a plain Greek cross on a horizontally lined field, draped within an ermine-lined royal mantle surmounted by a jewelled crown. The mantle is tied at the base with a tassel and terminates in a pendant order badge. A scrolled cartouche below the shield carries the royal motto ΙΣΧΥΣ ΜΟΥ Η ΑΓΑΠΗ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ. The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ arcs around the upper field, while the denomination 20 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ is inscribed in large characters along the lower arc, all within a beaded border. |
