| Description de l’avers | Bare-headed effigy of the young King George I facing right, modeled in high relief with finely engraved hair swept back from the forehead. The circular legend in Greek reads ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ Α' ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ, arranged around the upper and lateral periphery within a beaded border. In the lower exergue, the mint mark 'A' (Paris), the date 1876, and the engraver's signature ΒΑΡΡΕ appear in small incuse lettering. The portrait is executed in the neoclassical French tradition characteristic of Barre's work. |

| Description du revers | The royal arms of Greece, comprising a quartered shield bearing a white Greek cross on blue, displayed at the centre of an ermine-lined royal mantle draped and tied at the corners, surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. A ribbon scroll at the base of the shield bears the royal motto ΙΣΧΥΣ ΜΟΥ Η ΑΓΑΠΗ ΤΟΥ ΛΑΟΥ (My Strength is the Love of the People). The circular legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ arcs across the upper field within a beaded border, while the denomination 20 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ is boldly inscribed in the lower field. |
