| 背面描述 | The reverse bears a full-color reproduction of Pierre-Auguste Renoir's 1881 Impressionist masterpiece 'Two Sisters (On the Terrace)', applied across the entire circular field. The image depicts an older girl wearing a vivid red hat and dark blue dress in the foreground, with a younger girl in a flower-adorned hat at lower right, set against a lush garden background in characteristic Impressionist brushwork. The entire composition is overlaid with a micro-engraved jigsaw puzzle texture, with numerous puzzle pieces shown in a deliberately incomplete arrangement, leaving several bare silver areas to simulate a puzzle in progress. The date 2020 is engraved in small characters within one of the exposed silver puzzle-piece voids at the left of the field. |

Palau's legal tender coinage has been struck under contract since independence in 1994, with the Republic licensing its sovereign issuing authority almost entirely to foreign minting houses — primarily the Bavarian State Mint and later B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt, both in Munich. The "Two Sisters" release falls within a long-running Palauan program of large-format collector pieces that bear no practical relationship to domestic currency use; none circulate on the islands.
KM#872 is catalogued under Palau's extensive commemorative series, where numbering has grown unwieldy enough that cross-referencing against the issuing mint's own records is often more reliable than KM alone.
