Obverse description The obverse displays the national coat of arms of Liberia at centre, depicting a sailing ship approaching shore, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a plough and spade in the lower portion, all enclosed within an ornate shield. A scrolled ribbon above the arms bears the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE, while the outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim. The date 2000 is split across the lower field with 20 to the left and 00 to the right of the arms, and the denomination 20 DOLLARS appears along the lower rim. The coin is struck in proof-like finish with a reeded border.
