Reverse description A bald eagle depicted in powerful high relief, shown in left-facing flight with wings broadly spread, ascending over a rising sun whose rays fan outward across the lower field in bold radiating lines. The eagle's feathering is rendered with exceptional sculptural detail on the breast and wings. The two-line legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA arcs across the upper field, with TWENTY DOLLARS inscribed on a second arc immediately below it. No motto appears, consistent with the no-motto variety. The composition is entirely free of a date.
