Reverse description A bold American eagle in full flight, wings outstretched, soaring to the left across the central field. Below the eagle, a dramatic sunburst of radiating rays fills the lower portion of the coin, evoking the rising sun. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the upper periphery, and the denomination TWENTY DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery, with all words separated by raised dots. The field is otherwise unadorned, consistent with the No Motto type, which omits the IN GOD WE TRUST inscription present on later issues.
