| Reverse description | A finely detailed relief portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales, is shown from the waist up, facing slightly left with a warm smile, her hair swept back in her characteristic style. She tenderly embraces a young child, cradling the child's head in both hands in an evocative humanitarian composition. The peripheral legend DIANA PRINCESS OF WALES arcs across the upper field, flanked by the birth year 1961 at the lower left and the year of her death 1997 at the lower right, each separated by a star. The word CHARITY is inscribed along the lower rim, referencing the Princess's celebrated philanthropic work. |

Liberia's commemorative output in the 1990s was prolific to the point of absurdity — the country licensed its minting authority extensively to foreign producers targeting the collector gift market, and the Diana memorial issues of 1997 were among the most heavily produced of that wave. Struck within months of her death in August 1997, these pieces were marketed under a "charity" designation, though the proportion of proceeds reaching any charitable cause was rarely disclosed or independently verified.
