| Beschrijving keerzijde | A finely detailed profile view of the French PLM (Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée) Pacific-type steam locomotive dominates the central field, depicted in three-quarter perspective travelling along railway tracks that recede toward the lower portion of the coin. The locomotive is rendered with meticulous mechanical detail, including large driving wheels, boiler, and streamlined cab. A scenic landscape background features bare trees and rolling terrain beneath a stippled night sky. The curved legend LEGENDS OF THE RAILS - PLM PACIFIC arcs around the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower margin. |

The Pacific Life Medals (PLM) series, produced for Liberia in the early 2000s, was part of a broader wave of foreign-licensed commemorative programs that exploited Liberia's open coinage laws — the country had long permitted private minting houses, primarily in Germany and Austria, to strike legal tender issues with no meaningful connection to Liberian commerce or circulation. These coins were sold wholesale into the collector market, never touching West African soil.
