Beschrijving voorzijde The nickel-plated steel centre bears the Jamaican coat of arms at centre, featuring a quartered shield supported by two Taino figures, surmounted by a crocodile above a helmet and mantling, with a scroll inscribed OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE at the base. The denomination numeral 20 appears prominently above the coat of arms in the upper field. The brass outer ring carries the country name JAMAICA along the upper arc and the legend TWENTY DOLLARS along the lower arc, both in raised lettering.

Aanvullende informatie

Jamaica introduced bimetallic coinage in this denomination partly to combat persistent counterfeiting of the earlier note issue, and the magnetic steel core was a deliberate choice for automated coin-handling compatibility in an economy increasingly reliant on machine-operated fare collection and retail systems. The "Magnetic" designation in KM#206 distinguishes it from an otherwise identical-looking non-magnetic predecessor — a distinction that matters operationally far more than aesthetically.
