Additional information

Hutt River Province — formally the Province of Hutt River — was an unrecognized micronation in Western Australia that declared independence from Australia in 1970 under Leonard Casley, who styled himself Prince Leonard I. It issued coins, stamps, and passports with complete seriousness. This 1991 gold-plated piece commemorating the F-117A appeared the year the aircraft flew its first combat missions over Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, when the Nighthawk's existence was still relatively new public knowledge — the program had only been declassified in 1988.
