Above the waterline, a Consolidated B-24 Liberator aircraft bearing the markings of Royal Canadian Air Force No. 10 Squadron patrols the mid-Atlantic waters south of Greenland and Iceland, having signaled the presence of an enemy U-boat to HMCS St. Croix. Below the surface, the menacing silhouette of the submerged submarine is rendered in vivid detail, evoking the desperate moments before the tragic sinking of St. Croix on September 20, 1943.
