Obverse description Selective 24-karat gold-plated effigy of King George V facing left, wearing the Imperial State Crown and military uniform with ornate epaulette and bow tie, rendered in high relief against a frosted silver field. The portrait is adapted from the Mackennal effigy used on contemporary circulation coinage. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: REX ET IND: IMP arcing around the upper periphery. The denomination 20 DOLLARS appears in the lower exergue, also in Latin lettering. The engraver's initials B.M. are visible at the lower right of the portrait truncation.
