Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's long-running "Masterworks" fine silver series, this piece uses selective gold plating applied over .9999 silver — a technically demanding process the RCM has refined across dozens of issues since the early 2000s. The salmon egg motif belongs to a broader Pacific wildlife strand within that program, reflecting sustained collector demand for Canadian fauna subjects in the secondary market.
Issued under Elizabeth II's effigy despite her death in September 2022 — the RCM, like several Commonwealth mints, continued using existing obverse dies well into the transition year.
