| Obverse description | The full coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, featuring a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and an anchor beneath a shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto. The date 1997 is divided across the field, with '19' to the left and '97' to the right of the arms.
