| Obverse description | The arms of the Republic of Liberia occupy the central field, depicting a sailing ship on the sea before a rising sun, a palm tree, and a plough with a spade in the foreground, all within a wreathed shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto. The date 2004 is divided on either side of the shield. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA encircles the design along the upper rim, with a secondary legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA repeated along the lower rim, separated by the motto scroll THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE arching across the upper portion of the coat of arms.
