Additional information

Liberia's early 2000s commemorative program was one of the most prolific — and frankly cynical — in modern numismatic history, flooding the market with licensed portrait coins targeting collectors in wealthier nations. The Grace Coolidge issue belongs to that wave, produced almost certainly by a European contract mint with no connection to American political history beyond the licensing agreement.

Grace Coolidge was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1977, three decades after her death — one of the few First Ladies to receive it.
