| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield depicting a rising sun above a British galleon in full sail upon the sea, supported on the dexter side by a marlin and on the sinister side by a flamingo, both rampant. Above the shield rises a conch shell atop which is placed a helmet surmounted by a hand grasping three palm fronds. A scroll beneath the supporters carries the national motto in three registers: FORWARD, UPWARD ONWARD, and TOGETHER. The circular legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1994 appears in stylised numerals at the base of the field. |
