Obverse description The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by sculptor Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as a mature sovereign at 77 years of age. The Queen is portrayed bareheaded with neatly styled hair, wearing a pearl necklace and drop earrings, rendered in fine relief against a flat field. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs along the upper periphery in incuse Latin characters, affirming her title as Queen by the grace of God. The portrait conveys a dignified and restrained likeness consistent with official Royal Canadian Mint standards for commemorative issues of this period.
