Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left periphery and COOK ISLANDS along the upper right, both in incuse lettering. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small capitals at the truncation of the neck. The denomination 20 DOLLARS is inscribed in bold relief along the lower rim. The mirrored proof field provides a sharp contrast to the finely detailed portrait.

Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has operated as a self-governing territory in free association with New Zealand since 1965, giving it the constitutional standing to issue its own commemorative coinage despite having no independent central bank in the conventional sense. The Cook Islands Monetary Authority has leveraged that status aggressively since the 1970s, producing collector issues almost entirely for the international numismatic market rather than domestic circulation.

KM# 1599 belongs to a period when the Authority was commissioning heavily themed silver rounds at weights well above the standard ounce, targeting the shaped and colored coin market that expanded sharply in the 2010s among European and Asian collectors.
