| Reverse description | The reverse features the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II — the interlaced monogram E II R — prominently centered in the field, surmounted by a St. Edward's Crown rendered in bold relief. The denomination 20 DOLLARS appears below the cypher, with CANADA inscribed along the lower portion of the field in large capital letters. The entire design is executed in deep black rhodium plating, giving the reverse a uniform, striking matte black appearance. A decorative inner border of raised dots encircles the central design, punctuated at the cardinal points by small circular ornaments, adding a regal and ceremonial quality to the composition. |

Issued shortly before — or in some cases after, depending on shipment timing — the death of Elizabeth II in September 2022, this commemorative sits in an awkward commercial position: a tribute coin whose subject passed before most buyers received it. The Royal Cypher design was already in production pipeline when the Queen died, making it one of the RCM's more unintentionally elegiac releases. Rhodium selective plating of this kind, layering standard and black rhodium over .9999 silver, is a technique the RCM has refined over the past decade primarily for the premium collector market.
