| Reverse description | A full-color reproduction of Raphael's celebrated oil painting 'The Sistine Madonna' (c. 1512) is set within a rectangular frame embellished with inset baguette-cut crystals, occupying the central field. The painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child, flanked by Saint Sixtus on the left and Saint Barbara on the right, all resting upon clouds above two contemplative cherubim at the lower edge. Flanking the central image, the field is engraved in high relief with an architectural facade reminiscent of a Renaissance gallery or museum building, complete with arched windows, balustrades, and decorative stonework. The legend MASTERPIECES OF ART arcs along the upper rim, the date 2009 appears to the right, and RAFFAELLO SANZIO is inscribed along the lower rim. |
