Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded and uncrowned, wearing a necklace and earrings, after the fourth portrait by Susanna Blunt. The legend 'ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA' arcs along the upper field, with the initials 'SB' appearing below the truncation, denoting the engraver. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a polished field, consistent with the proof finish standard of this commemorative series.

Additional information

Part of the RCM's broader "Water and Nature" collector series, this issue appeared during a period when the Mint was aggressively expanding its fine silver (.9999) program — pushing purity above the long-standard .999 used by most sovereign mints. The shift added minor production costs but allowed the RCM to market a measurable technical distinction in an increasingly crowded commemorative market.

KM#1384 is a low-mintage collector piece with no circulation mandate.
