The "Super Incuse" design, first introduced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2022, inverts the traditional relief of the Maple Leaf series by driving the design elements below the field surface rather than above it — a deliberate technical challenge requiring modified striking pressure and die geometry. The result is a pooled, mirror-like field that behaves differently under light than any standard proof or bullion finish.
Gold plating on a .9999 silver substrate places this squarely in the RCM's collector-facing numismatic line rather than its bullion program, despite sharing the Maple Leaf branding.
