| 表面の説明 | The obverse features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt, depicting the queen in right-facing profile at approximately 77 years of age, bareheaded and wearing a necklace and earrings. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a flat field, presenting a naturalistic and dignified likeness consistent with the artist's official effigy adopted by Canada in 2003. The surrounding legend, separated by a central raised dot, reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA and CANADA, with the designer's initials SB positioned near the portrait's truncation. |

The SS Princess Sophia was a Canadian Pacific Railway steamship that sank on Vanderbilt Reef in Alaska's Lynn Canal in October 1918, killing all 343 passengers and crew — the deadliest maritime disaster in the history of the Pacific Northwest coast. The ship had grounded on the reef during a snowstorm and sat there for nearly 40 hours while rescue vessels stood by, unable to board due to weather. Then a storm surge lifted her off and she sank within minutes, leaving no survivors.
