| 背面描述 | A finely detailed sculptural rendering of a Scutellosaurus dinosaur occupies the central field, depicted in a naturalistic walking pose facing left, its characteristic osteoderms and dorsal scutes rendered in high relief across the body and along the elongated tail, which curves upward toward the upper right of the field. The denomination '20 DOLLARS' appears in the upper field, with the date '2014' inscribed vertically along the lower left rim and 'CANADA' along the lower right rim. The species name 'SCUTELLOSAURUS' is engraved in bold lettering along the lower portion of the field, above the exergue line. The engraver's initials 'JC' appear in small letters below the dinosaur's feet. |

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's long-running prehistoric animals series, this issue belongs to a run of fine silver $20 pieces that began attracting serious collector attention in the early 2010s largely because of their low mintage ceilings and aggressive secondary market flipping. Scutellosaurus itself is a reasonably obscure choice — a small, early Jurassic ornithischian known primarily from fragmentary Arizona material described by Edwin Colbert in 1981.
The .9999 fineness distinguishes the series from earlier RCM bullion issues struck to .9999 only after 2014 quality standardization.
