The Diamond Diadem depicted here is the same crown worn by Elizabeth II for her coronation portrait in 1953 — a piece made by Garrard in 1820 for the coronation of George IV, set with nearly 1,400 diamonds. The Platinum Jubilee marked 70 years on the throne, the longest reign in British Commonwealth history. Swarovski crystals embedded in the rhodium-plated field are a production choice the RCM has leaned on repeatedly for this collector segment, though the .9999 fine silver substrate is unusually pure for a commemorative of this type.
