Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch as an older woman with her hair elegantly pinned up, wearing a pearl necklace. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G· REGINA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 DOLLARS appears in the lower field. The initials SB are incuse near the base of the portrait. The portrait style is uncrowned and draped, set against a mirror-polished proof field.

Aanvullende informatie

Canada has issued commemorative $20 silver pieces almost continuously since the 1980s, to the point where the format risks invisibility. The Platinum Jubilee issue at least marks something genuinely rare: Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to reach 70 years on the throne, surpassing Victoria's record of 63 years set in 1900. She died in September 2022, roughly three months after jubilee celebrations concluded, making this effectively a posthumous commemorative produced in the same calendar year as her death.
