| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper periphery, with TUVALU inscribed along the lower right, all separated by raised dots. The date 1996 appears in the lower exergual area, also flanked by raised dot stops. The portrait style is consistent with the Rank-Broadley effigy used on Commonwealth coinage of the period. |
