| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of Niue centrally positioned within the field, featuring a quartered shield surmounted by a royal crown. The four quarters of the shield depict, respectively, four five-pointed stars arranged in a cruciform pattern representing the Southern Cross, three sailing ships in pale symbolising historical navigation, a figure in traditional dress, and crossed hammer and pick above a conch shell, representing industry and natural resources. The shield is flanked on either side by sprigs of silver fern, a prominent national emblem. The legend NIUE appears to the left and the date 1993 to the right, arching along the upper periphery of the coin. |
