Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands became a favored issuer for high-end numismatic novelties in the 2000s and 2010s, its licensing arrangements allowing private mints — primarily the Coin Invest Trust operation out of Liechtenstein — to produce elaborately finished collector pieces under its authority. This coin belongs to that wave of art-reproduction issues, which flooded the market heavily enough that secondary values on most pieces never recovered their issue prices.

Vermeer painted the original around 1665. No commissioner is known; no sitter has ever been identified with certainty.
