Additional information

Issued as part of Canada's official Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics program, this coin appeared two years before the Games themselves — the Royal Canadian Mint began the series in 1985 to spread collector revenue across multiple fiscal years. Freestyle skiing was still a demonstration sport at Calgary, not yet a full medal discipline; that recognition didn't come until Albertville in 1992.
