The beetle's iridescent elytra are depicted in rich reds and greens with black legs and head, faithfully capturing the species' renowned metallic sheen. To the right, a spray of dogbane blossoms (Apocynum androsaemifolium) with pale pink petals and green stems extends gracefully across the field, all rendered in full color. The denomination 20 DOLLARS arcs along the upper periphery, with 2017 at the upper right, and CANADA curves along the lower periphery in bold raised lettering; the engraver's initials MG appear at the lower left of the design field. The composition celebrates Canada's natural entomological heritage through an exceptional combination of color printing and art glass craftsmanship. |
