Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Barbados centred in the field, depicting a shield charged with two sugar cane stalks and a flowering plant, supported by a seahorse to the left and a pelican to the right. Above the shield, a gauntleted arm grasps two crossed sugar cane stalks as the crest. A ribbon below bears the national motto 'PRIDE AND INDUSTRY' in raised lettering. The legend 'BARBADOS' arcs along the upper rim, and the date '1985' appears in large numerals at the base. A small mintmaster's mark is visible on the ribbon.
