Obverse description Right-facing diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara and a draped neckline, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the lower left rim, while CANADA 1987 arcs along the lower right rim, the two separated at the base by a small maple leaf device. The portrait is based on the Arnold Machin effigy as adapted for Canadian coinage.
