Emily Carr spent much of the 1930s working in near-total obscurity, her paintings of British Columbia's coastal forests and Indigenous village sites largely unsold and stored in her Victoria studio. It was Lawren Harris and the Group of Seven who finally pushed her work into national consciousness, but recognition came late — she was in her sixties before any serious commercial success arrived. The Royal Canadian Mint's 2014 tribute draws directly from that decade of ignored output.
Struck in .9999 fine silver, this is among the purest silver issues in the Mint's commemorative program at the time of release.
