| Aversbeschreibung | Effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing left, wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The portrait is set against a background of finely engraved concentric circular lines that radiate outward across the field, overlaid with stylised Aztec calendar glyphs and symbolic motifs arranged in two ovoid groupings above and below the effigy. The legend ELIZABETH II • COOK ISLANDS arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 20 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim. The inscription ARCHEOLOGY & SYMBOLISM is arranged vertically along the right side of the field in a decorative manner. |

| Reversbeschreibung | Highly detailed high-relief reproduction of the Aztec Sun Stone (Piedra del Sol) occupying the central field, with the solar deity Tonatiuh depicted at the centre, tongue extended and flanked by clawed appendages holding human hearts. Surrounding the central face are concentric rings featuring the twenty day signs of the Aztec calendar, rays, and elaborate serpentine and feathered motifs rendered in deep sculptural relief with an antique finish that accentuates the intricacy of the design. Two feathered serpent heads emerge from the lower portion of the composition, framing the outer border of the stone. The legend AZTEC CALENDAR STONE arcs along the upper rim, with the split date 20 and 18 flanking the central design at left and right respectively, and the inscription TENOCHTITLÁN appears along the lower rim. |
