Reverse description A large, finely detailed sugar maple leaf (Acer saccharum) is depicted centrally, its characteristic lobed form and prominent veining rendered in high relief against a radially brushed field. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper periphery. Flanking the upper portion of the leaf stem are the purity inscriptions 9999 to the left and 9999 to the right. Along the lower arc, the inscription FINE GOLD 1/2 OZ OR PUR states the weight and attests to the coin's .9999 fine gold content in both English and French.
