| 正面铭文 | COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMA ISLANDS ELIZABETH II |
| 背面描述 | Central depiction of a tall lighthouse — identified as the Hole-in-the-Wall Lighthouse — rising from stylized ocean waves, with radiant beams of light emanating from the lantern room in all directions. Palm trees and a low-lying coastline are visible in the background to the right. The denomination 'TWENTY · DOLLARS' is inscribed in two lines flanking the upper portion of the design, and the date '1972' appears in the exergue. A beaded border frames the entire composition. |

The Bahamas Monetary Authority issued this coin in 1972, the year before the country gained independence from Britain — making it one of the last Bahamian gold pieces struck under full colonial monetary administration. The Authority itself was a transitional body, established in 1968 specifically to manage currency in advance of sovereignty, and it was dissolved and replaced by the Central Bank of the Bahamas upon independence in July 1973.
The .9166 fineness is the traditional 22-karat standard inherited from British sovereign coinage practice.
